Diastema Closure

Diastema Closure

A diastema (a gap between the teeth) can be managed in various ways via crowns, veneers, direct composite bonding, or space redistribution via minor tooth movement. Should it be done with braces or without braces? Will it affect the bite? All of the above are some of the considerations in dealing with gaps. Once the diagnosis is made, the treatment should be decided based on understanding the pros and cons of each treatment modality.

In the case below, the gap was closed in the most conservative non-invasive way by moving the teeth together orthodontically, thus eliminating the space altogether, rather then filling it.
