Figure a. features a missing Premolar due to a fracture. In fig. b an abutment (post) is screwed into the implant. The Implant (or artificial root) Supported Crown consists of three components as pictured in figure c:

  1. The [metallic green] implant which is placed in the bone.
  2. The [gold] abutment.
  3. The [porcelain] crown which fits the abutment

Fig. d shows the smile without the abutment and crown while fig. e and fig. f show the restored smile. Note that the crown next to the missing tooth was replaced as well due to a defective margin in fig. d
